Mt. Lake Park is getting new bathrooms!
The new restrooms will be in the same location as the existing ones but be expanded to include a garage for a City maintenance vehicle. It will also provide room for an office set up, similar to what is there now. This layout extends the building to the area currently occupied by a par course station that would be relocated. The building facade is based on the traditional building form, very similar to that which exists at the park. A bulletin board (not shown) would be added to the exterior of the building.
According to RPD, the construction of the bathrooms will begin this fall (no earlier than September 2012) and will be completed by Spring 2013. We are still waiting on details of what, if any alternate bathroom facilities may be available during the construction.
Funding for this project came from the 2008 Park Bond measure which allocated $117 million to fund park improvements in a number of the city’s parks. To learn more about that bond and some of the other park improvements it has paid for, click here.
